JRT Public Service:
Dear Friends below is a letter and appeal for support from a good friend of our audience, Hinda Mandell, whom many of you remember as a young, brave, honest, and fearless editor of the Boston's Jewish Advocate.Since 2010 I've been at work on a personal and journalistic project that investigates the origins of a Mein Kampf that my great uncle, an American soldier, brought home from war. I'm writing with the exciting news that the trailer to this film "The Upside Down Book" is now ready for viewing! I kicked off a fundraising campaign, where I hope to raise $5,000. This would cover remaining editing costs associated with the film. My essays on this project have appeared in the Boston Globe, Forward and LA Times (links are below).I wanted to share my Kickstarter fundraising appeal with interested parties, and specifically with readers of the Jewish Russian Telegraph. My fundraising deadline is Dec. 14.I am particularly interested in reaching people who are committed to themes associated with family, memory, lore, freedom and World War II.I pasted below a blurb that describes the project.Anyone can view the trailer, learn more about the project and donate here:
Since more than 700 American veterans of World War II die each day, it’s up to us to carry on their legacy and honor the stories they brought home.
This project has been featured in the Boston Globe, the Forward and the Los Angeles Times.
By supporting this film, you're demonstrating that we should not view history in a passive way, but as something we should engage in today. If you know someone who might be interested in supporting this film, we’d love for you to pass along this announcement and Kickstarter link to them. Thank you so much for your support! We welcome any questions you may have. Please get in touch! hindamandell@gmail.com
