Charles Jacobs on behalf of Americans For Peace and Tolerance:
We are scheduled to release a full length documentary -- in February-March -- about the first jihad-murder on US soil since 9/11.
It is the story of Carlos, the son of a black Baptist family who converted to Islam at Tennessee State University. Carlos went on to attack the homes of several Rabbis and then kill a US Army recruiter, Andy Long, in Little Rock.
Carlos Bledsoe was convicted and sentenced to life in prison just a few months ago. Our film -- "Losing our Sons" -- "stars" the fathers of Andy and Carlos.
Last week, Andy's father, Daris Long, testified at a joint Senate/House Homeland Security Committees hearing on the homegrown terrorist threat to the Armed Forces. APT attended the hearings and brought Carlos's father, Melvin, who sat with us behind Daris - a sign of support which many Congressmen found moving. (Melvin also provided an overwhelmingly powerful testimony back in March.)
You can watch Daris's testimony at this link - http://www.cspanvideo.org/program/Daris
A much divided Congress pledged to help Daris get a Purple Heart for his son. Previously, the Administration, wanting to treat this murder only as a "drive by shooting," denied that Andy was killed in the war on terror. But even members of the Administration's own party participating in the hearing were moved to undo this injustice and committed to send a personal appeal to President Obama.
And even the Tennessean, the Nashville paper that has been protecting radical Muslim leaders and bashing their critics, covered the hearings in a fair and competent way.
