JRT news:
Boston's very own Tanya and Andrey Gorlin went to Washington to protest the socialist revolution in this country. Here is Tanya's letter and pictures:
Andrew and I just came back today from Washington D.C. where we participated in the Tea Party March and Rally. It was really a historic event which attracted people from all over the country and from different political affiliations. No one at the event was subsidized by any political party, or union, or interested groups: all of us spent our own money for a transportation and hotel. It is not knowm yet how many people were there: some of the sources give about 70 thousands, while others have given figures much higher - between 1.5 to 2 millions. I have never participated in such a big event in my life, the whole city seemed to belong to us, the participants and marchers. People occupied all the spaces from Federal Triangle to Capitol Hill. It was evident that America had awakened. People have started to sense or taste the "flavor" of Obama administration which we might characterize as "taste of socialism", with its arrogance and elitism, and desire to control everything - the economy, financial institutions, health care, the media, education, etc. Observing the crowd there was also a feeling that the present administration would fail in its attempt to change this country. There will be massive resistance from "We The People".Almost 250 years ago this country was created by the people who were united in their love for individual liberty and political freedom. And on September 12, 2009, in Washington D.C. we all shared the same love for liberty and freedom. Please look at the pictures we took of on this historic day and read the signs which people made by hand, each expressing what the maker thought, rather than being mass-manufactured and handed down by some Party apparatchiks or Committee. Please pay attention to one picture that shows a demonstarion in opposition to us and supporting an Obama Health Reform. These demonstrators consisted of about 40 people with factory made signs. What a difference! We thank all of our friends for their support. And of course there is so much to recall, and to tell, but I wanted to give you this, our immediate impressions of an event that for us was unforgettable. And enjoy the pictures. Tanya Gorlin
