Jewish boy, Howie Cooper works hard for his pay. He works hard for his client, Islamic Society of Boston. He defends their right to intimidate and scare into silence everybody who would come up with a question about such private things as funding, connections to ideologues of global Jihad, or propriety or impropriety of the society's dealings with a Boston governmental agency. So, Howie Cooper thought up a great idea -- to DEMAND from Workmen's Circle, a Jewish group dedicated to social justice and Yiddish culture, to demand from this Jewish organization, a letter SUPPORTING ISB right to sue everybody in sight. What a clever man, this Howie Cooper! What a lousy way to make a living.
JRT Exclusive:
Special Community Meeting Concerning the Islamic Society of Boston Monday,
February 5
7:00pm
At the Workmen's Circle building 1762 Beacon St., Brookline
Last week, the Islamic Society of Boston (ISB) requested that the Boston Workmen's Circle file an amicus brief supporting its right to bring a defamation and civil rights lawsuit against the Boston Herald, FOX News, and the David Project, among others.
The Executive Committee views this request as worthy of serious consideration by the Board, and expects that body to address it at its February 7 meeting. The request comes at a time of growing concern about both anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim sentiment and barriers to dialogue resulting from this case.
To help advise the Board in its consideration of the request, and to inform the membership at large regarding the issues at stake, we will hear presentations by Howard Cooper, attorney for the ISB, and Jeffrey Robbins, the attorney representing the David Project. A representative of the Jewish Community Relations Council will also be invited to share their views.
We take the ISB's request very seriously. We also recognize that this entire matter is highly charged for both the Jewish and Islamic communities. Consequently, we hope and intend to give it the consideration it deserves. We urge you to join us for this important meeting. Please note: This is not a public event. It is intended for participants in the Workmen's Circle community who are on our mailing list and invited guests.
During the next few days, we will furnish by email additional information and suggested readings to help provide background. Thanks for your attention to this.Mike Felsen and Dan Klein F or the Executive Committee
ISB's request is " worthy of serious consideration by the Board"? Really? We don't think so.
To quote Charles Jacobs :
is suing an Islamic cleric, a Christian political science professor, the Jewish daughter of Holocaust survivors, various journalists, non-profits and researchers who had the nerve to raise questions about the Society’s funding and leadership, and about the somewhat extraordinary nature of a deal by which it received public land at a fraction of its fair market value. We are not talking about inter community relations here. This is of course a red herring. We are talking about blatant request to support ISB's right to sue everybody -- Moderate Muslims, Christians, media, and yes, a Jewish organization. This is not about community relations. This is about our freedom of speech.

today an abstract approach to Islamic rights in America is theoretically correct, but has no sense in real life: unfortunately we do not have any more a luxury of being politically correct without becoming dam and/or self-suicidal. We have to request and receive complete information on how any organization gets its money and how they use it. In case of ISB we have enough reasons to see part of their activities as dangerous. Every Muslim, who is not against our civilization, would support our requests. This is our self defense in today's world with ongoing ware against us. Anyone, who takes this question out of practical context, would serve the dangerous enemy, who is smart, understands and uses moral and laws of our democratic civilization with a goal of doing harm to it.
Even the fact that ISB is looking for the support of a Jewish organization makes clear that they are trying to manipulate Jewish and American high moral values with cynicism of a snake-enemy.
Vote against! Vote for us, law respecting citizens, who love our American society (not because it has no serious flows, but because there is non better on the Earth) and who want to keep our life safe as far as it is possible. Remember 9/11 and make changes in your psyche in accordance with a sad reality, not a theories that are, unfortunately, would harm us tomorrow. C’est la vie.
