I would like to invite you to attend a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the American Jewish Committee in Boston. The AJC is recognized as the leading Jewish organization in the world and has a very active Boston chapter. As proclaimed by Mayor Menino, "September 14th is officially Greater Boston Chapter of the American Jewish Committee Day." The AJC and especially its executive director David Harris has been a tireless fighter on behalf of Soviet Jews since well before the Iron Curtain fell and continues to do so today. The AJC has actively invited the Jewish Russian community by offering a Leadership class and having elected four Board members from the former Soviet Union. The AJC contributed $9,000 to the Russian Jewish Community Foundation Israel Emergency Fund to purchase a fully-equipped medical emergency motorcycle for Hatzolah (Rescue), and is planning to actively participate in our upcoming Russian Jewish Community Foundation Charity Ball. David Harris is going to be the keynote speaker and the award recipient at the RJCF Charity Ball. The AJC is the only Jewish organization that has the Russian Affairs Department to foster mutual cooperation.

AJC is the only major American Jewish organization that recognizes and embraces Russian Jews as an important part of the Jewish community. David Harris has proven many times his committment to Russian Jewry. We might not agree on some things politically, but we love and respect David. Should we come? Yes, we certainly should.
