From Somerville to Ramallah, endorsements of Iran's genocidal policy
From JRTELEGRAPH's readers:
The Boston-based OnePalestine, behind the Somerville 'Divest from Israel' campaign, and the military wing of the Abu Mazen's ruling Fateh party endorse Iran's President call to "wipe Israel off the map".
Ahmadinejad told the audience that the "new wave" of Palestinian attacks would destroy Israel.
OnePalestine posted its take on Iran's speech: "...Bringing an end to the racist state of "Israel" and ending the American and British invasion and occupation of Iraq are the only solutions that will bring justice to this region." www.onepalestine.orgFounding comrade of OnePalestine and a leader in the Divestment Project, Lana Habash, MD, is a practicing physician in family medicine at Boston Medical Center. With this call to genocide of Israel and her people, this is a chilling reminder of Holocaust and its practitioners fifty years ago.
Jerusalem Post reports:
'The armed wing of the ruling Fatah party, Aksa Martyrs Brigades, on Sunday became the first Palestinian group to publicly endorse Iran's call to eliminate Israel. In a leaflet distributed in the Gaza Strip, the group voiced full support for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statements in which he said that Israel "must be wiped off the map."
The Fatah group also hailed Ahamdinejad's appeal to the Palestinians to unite their ranks so they would be able to destroy Israel.
JCRC referred in their literature to supporters of Divestment in Somerville who included Lana Habash as "a group of misguided activists". If you sent any money to JCRC -- demand immediate refund.

A recent JCRC Action Alert, titled "Stop the Iranian Nuclear Arms Program" stated the following, inter alia:
"Last week, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made headlines around the world for stating that Israel 'must be wiped off the map.' His reckless act of hostility has been widely condemned by the international community. Indeed, Saeb Erekat, chief negotiator for the Palestinian Authority declared, 'we do not accept the statements of the president of Iran.' However, words are not enough.
Iran refuses to end the nuclear programs that it hid from the world for nearly two decades . . ."
etc., ad nauseum.
Despite their brave and promising sweeping statement that "words are not enough," their only call to action is to "Urge your Massahusetts senators and representatives to support the Iran Freedom and Support Act [never mind the style]. Support democracy in Iran. Prevent Iranian development of nuclear arms."
Is everyone still asleep at the wheel at 126 High St.? Sure, they provide us with the websites and phone numbers of our MA reps and senators, but don't you think they should actually do something by themselves, rather than pass the buck to us?
Hello, ADL -- is there anybody out there? JCRC, AJC, et al. -- wass' up? Or are we to assume that the Iranian president's comments were merely misguided puffing, and we should merely express our "regret" as Andy Tarsy, ADL's new Executive Director (who, btw, has been ADL's counsel for quite a few years before becoming the local head) did w/r/t Chuck Turner, Roxbury’s City Councilor, yet another well-meaning but misguided anti-Semite?
What does Richard Glovsky, Education Director for the ADL think about this? That Iran's president "hasn’t had enough exposure to events in the Middle East ... [and that w]e need to have a meeting with him, because the greatest antidote to prejudice is education"?
How about Robert Trestan, ADL's Civil Rights Director, who thought that Turner’s "comments [were] misplaced" -- were Ahmadinejad's comments misplaced too?
Are we even living on the same planet? What are these people thinking? What are they all getting paid for, anyway -- to merely deliver the bad news to us, or to fight tooth and nail alongside us (let alone lead us) so as to make sure that there are no such news to report?
OK, folks, forget them -- we know where they stand on their weak, trembling and impotent knees: they remind me of those Jews who were quietly led to slaughter, knowing what awaited them, instead of trying to fight, or die fighting, taking as many of our enemies to the grave as possible. Had more Jews reacted this way, had there been more Warsaw ghetto uprisings, there could have been more of us around today.
Let us do something on our own -- let's organize a demonstration of protest against the Iranian government. Here is what I propose -- we set the most convenient yet most effective time to do this, and then choose an appropriate location.
Speaking of location -- how about in front of 126 High Street? Maybe then the paid residents of that location, with their cushy jobs under scrutiny, might do something, eh? Maybe they would even join us and get us the permits we might need? Naturally, they might suggest that we change the location. Like, to Boston Common, Copley Square, or some such desired locale. Sure thing, we would gladly work with them then, and might even let them lead and take the credit for their valiant stand against tyranny and genocide -- after all, isn't this a part of their mission?
We could then carry the torch to the U.N. (and set it ablaze -- oops, sorry, Freudian slip :-) so as to organize a massive rally of protest against the Iranian government in front of that infamous NYC landmark, joining Israel's demand (which has been refused by the U.N.) to expel Iran from that world body.
Criminals should pay dearly for their crimes, lest they roam freely, wreaking yet more havoc, reaffirmed in their impunity. The Iranian president's statement is nothing short of a hate crime, especially when one looks at the whole picture and sees the nuclear weapons under development in Iran, and Iranian support of Arab terrorism (Hizbullah, et al).
Folks, let's organize and do what our "leaders" are too chicken and too PC to do, choosing instead to bury their heads under the fancy carpeting of 126 High St.
Now, would you like to find out how I really feel? 126 High Street, I rest my case. Once again.
BTW, we could ask our friends at The David Project, AFSI, ZOA, CAMERA, LIC, BIAC, SAIAT, BostonForIsrael, Israel House, et al to join us in these efforts -- I simply do not see the reason why we couldn't pull it off, as there are many people dismayed and distressed by all these developments, and I'm sure they would join us. The anti-slavery demonstration did take place last Sunday -- why not an anti-genocide one? Or is a nuclear Holocaust not much of a threat to the U.S. and the whole world, let alone Israel?
Or will the world just sit and wait until Israel bombs Iranian nuclear installations, as they did in Iraq back in 1981, when the whole world condemned Israel's actions, only to thank the Israelis just a few years down the road?
If there is one thing history teaches us, it's that it teaches us nothing.
