Community Town Hall Meeting with Ambassador Yoram Ettinger
“Israel's Disengagement: its Lessons and Impact on American Interests”
When: Wednesday, November 2 at 7:30 pm
Where: Congregation Kehillath Israel
384 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA
If you are interested in the unvarnished truth about Israel’s Disengagement from Gaza, you cannot miss the discussion with the former Ambassador Yoram Ettinger.
In August 2005, some 9,000 Israeli citizens were expelled from their homes in Gaza as a part of Israel’s unilateral disengagement plan. Their flourishing communities were destroyed. Today, two months after the first stage of the Disengagement, the time has come again to ask the same hard questions:
* Aftermath of the Disengagement: who is the winner and who is the loser (both sides of the conflict claim the victory)?
* Why should we, Americans, care?
* How will the disengagement affect the global war against terrorism?
* What affect would future “disengagements” have on the security situation in America?
If you're open to listen to a different point of view, hear it from one of Israel's best and brightest analysts, PLEASE JOIN the discussion on the impact of “disengagements" on the the future of the US and Israel!
About the speaker: Ambassador Yoram Ettinger is considered an expert on US-Israel relations. He did his graduate studies at UCLA. He is an author, editor and Chairman of Special Projects at the Ariel Center for Policy Research - one of the leading think tanks in the world.
Event is sponsored by Boston for Israel, Land of Israel Committee, Boston Israel Action Committee, and Jewish Community Relations Council

I was fortunate to attend Ambassador Yoram Ettinger’s talk at Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline. You can imagine my surprise when I spotted Larry Lowenthal in the audience sandwiched between two ladies. For moral support, no doubt. One woman I recognized to be Suzi Schuller.
When the Ambassador was applauded, I instinctively looked in Larry’s direction. I found him applauding politely and giving the appearance of listening attentively, sometimes going so far as to lean over the bench in front and resting his head on his folded arms.
Suzi was another story, entirely. She was fidgeting throughout the evening and while others applauded, she was inspecting her nails. Another time she was checking out her pen, making sure that it was in proper working order, would be my guess. Don’t know why she would bring a cheap pen, or even own a cheap pen?
Well, what I learned is that Larry has the ability, when under the gun, to go through the motions of what is expected, especially when he is not speaking.
But Suzi, forget it, she cannot even maintain the façade of doing the right thing. No wonder she rebelled at the thought of having two more “Russians” join the AJC board.
